My Street Style Chana Chaat Recipe

Chana Chaat

Chana Chaat Recipe /

Chana chaat is surely something that awakens our sleeping taste buds. That is so true; even just writing about it has my stomach screeching for chana chaat.

I will explain to you why this happens: because this Desi snack is  so crunchy, yummy, tangy, and healthy that people of all ages want to satisfy their eating binges with it. Just like people in foreign countries like to eat their salads on a daily basis. It is something like that, but more tasty and healthy. I am not shying away from that. I am one of those people who is crazy for chana chaat. Chana chaat is famous as a snack in South Asian countries. Everybody makes chana chaat according to their own taste. Chana chaat is basically a mixture of chickpeas and different vegetables; for this, you can use white or black chickpeas. Black chana chaat is famous among street vendors, and if you are going to make it at home, people usually prefer to make it with white chana (white chickpea). I personally like black chana, as I earlier mentioned. So first of all let me tell you a story. Back in the day, I was travelling by bus, and I saw a man selling something in a newspaper wrap made in the shape of a cone. I was suddenly interested in what was in it, as that is the general reaction most people have towards street food. Selling something on a bus is not unusual if you are living in that part of the world called Asia. I'll explain, so you won't be surprised  So I asked my father to buy me one, as, at that time, I was only a child. When the seller gave me that newspaper wrapped cone filled with black chickpeas, tomatoes, and onions with a sprinkle of lemon and the added flavor of chaat masala (spice mixture), that was it; it was so yummy and delicious that I wanted to buy more, but sadly, the seller got off at the next station when the bus stopped. I will never forget that taste in my whole life. I always wanted to have something like that. So I tried many times street style chaat from different places but never got that taste, although it was okay. So when I first started cooking, there were many things that I was excited to try, one of which was obviously chana chaat in the way that street vendors made it. So after much trial and error, I was able to succeed in getting that taste, and that feeling was so overwhelming and joyful. I thought, Why not share it with you guys so you can make it and enjoy it also? I believe that sharing is caring, and I want everyone to experience the same joy and satisfaction that I felt when I finally perfected the recipe. So go ahead and give it a try, and let me know how it turns out for you!

Ingredients you need.

Half a bowl of black boiled chana (black chickpea)

2 small onions, chopped

3  tomatoes, medium sliced

2 green chillies sliced

Chaat masala as per your taste

salt as you like

3 to 4 squeezed lemons

Description

First, take a half bowl of black chickpeas and wash it carefully. After washing it, you can put it in the  cooker  and boil it for 15 minutes. When chickpeas are boiled, take them out into a utensil large enough to hold them when you start blending later on. After that, take two small onions, two green chilies, and three  tomatoes and cut them into small pieces. Mix these chopped vegetables into a chaat bowl and add chaat masala to it; mix well with a spoon. As for the last step, squeeze three to four lemons into the chaat, and it will make the chaat savory.  Additionally, sprinkle salt as per your taste at the end of this process to add flavor.
